I love Piyo...oh and turkey chili too!!

Hey everyone.  I have been slacking on my blog game...I lost my computer for a 2 week period, just got it back and I'm back in action!  So a lot has happened in the last few weeks...Jake and I went on the best trip of our life, to Cancun...for free!  I earned a trip with Beachbody...I will be collecting all of the pictures and I'll do my next post on that!  It was amazing.....more to come on that soon:)

I started a piyo group about 3 weeks ago.  Piyo is pilates and yoga at a faster pace...that's how I describe it anyway.  It is by far my favorite workout so far.  I love it so much I'm getting certified to teach it in July...so I'm practicing with the help of my amazing team and challengers doing it by my side!  I want to practice as much as possible so I'm on point!  Its a mix of strengthening, lengthening, and stretching!  SO you for sure sweat....a lot!  Its hard, but at the same time relaxing...and after you feel like you just walked out of a yoga class.  I have been doing it in my little office with no air on for a more "hot yoga" effect:)  I do believe it is my soul mate work out, and I just cant get enough!  Its addicting because you really get better each time...it makes you feel like a bad ass when you are done!!  The beginning is a little rocky....but if you push through and practice...just like with anything....you get good at it!  I'm not ready to teach it yet, that's for sure...but its so cool to see and feel progress!  My abs and arms are feeling amazing!  A big thanks to my accountability group for doing this with me!!

If you follow me, or have read my blog....you know that I love my crockpot!  This turkey chili is to die for...the recipe was given to me by my friend, and dietician Shonda!  Our kiddos love it too!

Turkey Chili:

Brown 1 pound ground turkey.
Put cooked meat into crockpot.  Add one can of black beans, 2 cans of kidney beans, 1 can diced tomatoes(make sure and drain all), 1 can tomato soup...I added corn too. 1/2 onion, diced.  2 T chili powder, 1/2 T garlic powder, 1/2 cumin, 1/2 t crushed red pepper, salt and pepper to taste, and a dash of all spice.  Cook on low for 6 hours, or high for 4.  I topped with a little cheese, avocado, onion, and greek yogurt.  So delicious, and so easy!  Enjoy!  Thanks for coming by!!

Insanity Max 30 Results!

Hey guys!  It's been a while.  I'm new to this blogging thing and I keep thinking that I should wait to write until I'm inspired with some amazing way to write what I have to say....that has not been happening...so I just decided to say what's on my heart:)

My husband and I, along with a group of about 25 other friends decided to commit to do Insanity Max 30...it's an 8 week program.  I wanted to fully complete a program, and I was so excited that so many others wanted to do it with us!  If you haven't ever done a program with Shaun T. as your trainer, you are missing out!  He is so encouraging and really has a way of pushing you in those moments when you really just want to give up!  He says several times in this program that it is so much more than a work out, this is your life; that always pumped me up!

The program is 5 days a week, 30 minute workouts....the name is appropriate, they are insane!  By far the hardest workouts that I have ever done!  The goal is to max out...so you go as hard as you can keeping the correct form for as long as you can...when your form starts to slip or you need a quick break, you take it and that's your max out time.  You are competing with yourself each week for better times.  After the first month you start a second month of workouts that are even more challenging...but you are prepared from the first month!  I have never done so many push ups in my life.  The tough part for me is the non-stop cardio...I'm not a cardio fan, but since the workouts were 30 minutes I could do it.  Some days were much harder than others, that's for sure!  Between the kiddos and all of the other busyness...there were days that I didn't want to commit to the 30 minutes, but I had my challenge group and Jake encouraging me, and the days where they needed the encouragement I could be the strong one!  Our challenge group was so awesome, the guys of the group had some bets going on which made it more fun for the group.  This program is great for the competitive person for sure!!  I did have a few days where I was sick, and had to listen to my body and take a day off. I made up the workouts though at the time I felt like a failure when I skipped.  I had to remind myself that failure would mean giving up, and I wasn't about to do that...that's the biggest difference in my life in general now days...I don't let small failures derail my ultimate success, and that my friends feels good!  It's all about not quitting...and that is coming from a girl that used to always quit! It's a breath of fresh air to me.  I always thought that succeeding was being perfect, but it is not that at all, it is taking those little bumps in the road and still finishing what you set out to do!  If I could go back to my teenage self and tell her that I would, but you live and learn, and I'm thankful that I know now!

My eating was not on point!  I had my good and bad days...I had this weird thinking that since I was killing myself with the hardest workouts I have ever done, that I deserved pizza, or Mexican food...then I would feel like crap, and get back on track.  I did drink my Shakeology everyday and I know that kept me on track, and gave me the nutrients that I needed to do the workouts and recover from them.  I would say my eating was about a 7, I know that my results would have been even better, but I'm sharing the truth:)

Here are some fun pics from our Insanity max journey, we posted sweaty pics with our max out times!  The kids really got into it too...some days haha!

I don't have any dramatic result pictures, but I can tell you that I am so much stronger and in the best shape I have ever been in!  I can do a lot of push ups, and some crazy fun moves from Shaun T.  I noticed the difference when I went to do a class called pound that I did before I started insanity several times.  Its a tough class, and I rocked it like I never have, so that was really cool.  I just started 21 day fix extreme, which being honest, I was nervous to do.  I saw the preview for it and it looked really hard!  I can tell you, almost a week into it, I can do those workouts!  It feels so good to not be intimidated to try any workout out there now!  Its all about trying everyday and getting better!  Everyone of course wants results from their hard work and to feel really good in their clothes and a bathing suit...but the coolest part for me, is completing something and not giving up!  I credit my challengers and fellow Beachbody coaches for their accountability!  Ok so here are my result pics, like I said, nothing drastic, but I feel so good!

These are my before and after pictures from doing T25, and 21 day fix.
The pictures on the left are about a month into the program, and the swim suit pic is my final after!
I'm so proud that we finished!  I'm doing 21 day fix Extreme right now to prepare for my Beachbody trip to Cancun in 2 weeks, so be looking for that result post next!  If you want to start and finish a program email me at jodesred@gmail.com, or you can follow me on Facebook and message me there.  I run monthly challenges and would love to help you find a program that you love, and more importantly help you finish!   Thanks for reading!!

Being real...about the ladies!

Hey guys!  So I'm going to be real here...about the ladies!  Yes I'm talking about boobs(or lack there of in my case).  I unfortunately...or fortunately have never had boobs.  I have always wanted them!  Its probably a good thing that I didn't have them in my younger years...I would have maybe showed them off a little too much!  It's one of those things that I always felt like I wasn't womanly because I didn't have them.  Luckily my husband says he's a butt man...and I have one of those so we are good:)

When I was pregnant with all of my boys my boobs didn't grow much even then....really??  That's when you are supposed to go through that beginning stage in the first trimester...where you aren't showing...but your boobs are huge....known as the porn star stage....never happened for me!  I was pissed about that!  I did get the boobs I have always wanted when I breastfed....well in the beginning anyway....the first 4 months or so....and they are hard as a rock and full of milk, and you are in pain.....sometimes bleeding...not ideal!!  By the time I was finished breast feeding each time...they were smaller than when I started!  I didn't think that was possible!  So instead of perky little boobs...they are now...yes...saggy little boobs!  It's a sad story...I would of course do it all over again in a heartbeat!!

I have always said after I was done having kids(which we are now), I would get the boobs I have always wanted.  About 6 months ago I did go for a consultation....I was sure that I wanted to do it....I even told my friends and family that I was going to do it!  I did get mixed opinions of course...and took all of them into consideration.  I even went to my doctor, got a physical...asked her opinion(she said it would be fine for me to do)...and got blood work to make sure that I didn't have any clotting disorders...I don't!  My husband was super supportive either way...I kept telling myself that I deserved it for nursing all of my kiddos and it was really just damage control...which I still believe it would be.  I'm not trying to go and get DD's...or look crazy big...just normal...nice boobs!

In the course of hearing many opinions...good and bad...I had several people ask me if God would want me to change the body that He gave me.  I had to think about that one.  I honestly think of it as more of a corrective procedure...and I knew in my heart I was not doing it for the wrong reasons!  Like I said I wasn't looking to get some circus boobs and go pick up my kids from school with them hanging out for all to see.  I just wanted to feel normal...and not like a boy!  I have prayed about it a lot!  I do not think it is wrong...if yourheart is right!  However...in the midst of praying about this....God did change my heart!  I have come to a whole new acceptance of myself.  Being so involved in fitness and health...I feel like I just want to be all natural....flaws and all!  I have stretch marks...and I don't have boobs...those are two things that I have accepted!  I honestly didn't want to take a break from my fitness goals...to have surgery...so I will keep what I have and continue to be working on my goals!  I may change my mind later on...but for now...I will remain a flawed little mama....and I'm ok with that for now!

I know that many women struggle with what the right thing to do is..I would just suggest praying about it and knowing your heart!  I don't think it's wrong to fix something that you don't like about yourself....as long as your heart is in the right place...only you and God can know what the right thing for you is....and I don't believe that it is the same for everyone!

Big boobs...small boobs...skinny...curvy...all woman are seriously beautiful....and we are all wonderfully flawed!  Embrace what you can....and the things that you want to change...do it!  I will leave you with a quote that I love!

2 Dinners, 4 Dresses, and 1 Romper!

Hey guys!  Hope everyone is having a great Monday!  I have one kiddo at school, and 2 asleep...woohoo!  SO I thought I would share 2 recipes that I tried out last week that were Amaze, and some super cute summer gear I'm eyeing!!

I have said before that I love my friend Amy's blog, her recipes are all so good, and paleo, I haven't found one that I don't like!  I decided on the Smokey Southwest Chili....it was the bomb!!  Everyone loved it except for my middle child, and he never likes anything!!  He is my picky guy and I have to bribe him to eat, yes I'm admitting to bribing my child!  Anyways...this is a different spin on typical chili, try it out!!  http://denimanddots.com/2012/03/21/thick-smokey-southwest-chili/.  Enjoy!

Last night I had no clue what I wanted to make for dinner, I had some thawed grass fed ground beef, and some peppers, so I googled healthy stuffed peppers and read a few recipes, and just kinda did my own thing from there!  SO here's what I did:

Boil a big pot of water and put your peppers in the boiling water for 1 minute, and then run under cold water.  I halved my peppers and I also had some little ones that I diced.  Have the oven set to 350.

For the stuffing:

put olive oil in skillet, and some minced garlic(I would have loved to do onions as well, but my guys don't like them:)), add your ground beef and cook through.  Meanwhile I made quinoa and followed instructions for that.  I then took the beef and added about 2 cups quinoa, or just add to whatever consistency that you like....then I did 1 cup of tomato sauce, and about a cup of mozzarella.  I seasoned with salt and pepper and parsley.  Mix and then fill peppers, top each pepper with 1Tb. of tomato sauce, and a little cheese.  I took my remaining mixture and mixed with my small peppers and made a casserole.  I put everything in the over for 30 minutes, and it came out bubbly and delicious!  Everyone loved this, again I had to bribe my 4 year old, but he did like it when he tried it!  My other two had seconds!  Super easy, win!!

Ok so most of you know that I earned a trip to Cancun with my Beachbody business...So I have been scoping out some things that I want to wear for my man!  If you know me, you know that I love dresses, so here are some of my faves!!

These you can find these on www.shopriffraff.com.  Love them all!!  I love buying pieces that can be worn casual or dressy, and that you can mix and match with different things!  SO fun!!  Here's the romper that I am in love with!

www.modernvintage.com, another one of my favorite online boutiques:)

I would love to wear this to the beach!!  These are all great motivators to finish my insanity max 30, our group that we are doing it with is starting week 6!  Wish us luck!  Have a great week and thanks for stopping by!!

A breakfast that will change your life!

Hey guys!  I have been a crazy lady this last week between our kiddos, all of their activities and my sister Jenna and her schedule!   I have been thinking about this post for a while now.  I have to share with you about my secret weapon!  Many of you know that I drink shakeology everyday.  You may not know how it has changed my life and why I love it!

First off I will tell you that I was never looking for a weight loss or protein shake(both of which shakeology is not)!  I was looking to get into great shape after baby number 3, and lose the major baby weight that I had:)  I was thinking of workouts and cleaning up my eating a bit! I decided to do a 10 day challenge...it included shakeology...I had no clue what it was and actually didn't think too much about it.  In those 10 days I drank my shakes everyday, tried different flavors, and I ended up losing 8 pounds.  I know that was a combo of everything that I was doing.  I have tried herbalife before...I always felt hungry and it really did nothing for me.  So my opinion on shakes was that they were just a way to stay full and not eat.  My very first shakeology that I drank I truly felt like my body was getting what it needed.  It was kind of weird.  I just felt really good, and like I just ate a nutritious, filling meal.  My energy(and keep in mind I had a new born) was amazing!  My system was so regular...and felt like it was running like it should!  I didn't have any bloating, and my stomach felt better than it had in a very long time!  Needless to say I was hooked.  I have been drinking them almost everyday for a year!  I very rarely miss a day....and when I do, I can tell a difference!  I love how easy it is to throw one together for breakfast and head out the door to take kiddos to school.  Its my fast food!  Jake started stealing my shakeology, so I ordered him his own bag for the month and he drinks them everyday as well, he was skeptical in the beginning for sure, but he is all about it now.  I recently started giving my kids 1/3 of a scoop everyday, they love them, I mean what kid doesn't love a chocolate shake, and I know that they are getting everything they need!  I believe in them so much because I know from my experience and how I feel, how good they are for you.  I haven't been sick in a very long time!  We don't take vitamins anymore, because everything we need is in our breakfast:)  I have also seen so many people start drinking shakeology and it make a huge difference in their health, cholesterol lowered, diabetes in control, stomach issues gone!  I have been asked if they are for weight loss, the answer is no...they are for everyone....they do get your body running how it should and for some the byproduct of that is weight loss.  I'm getting my grandparents on shakeology this week, this can replace ensure for them and is even better for them.  Its so exciting to have something that can help so many people, I do believe that everyone needs this and I'm on a mission to help as many people with shakeology as I can.

I recently started studying up on Shakeology more than I ever have....before I just knew I loved them...but it goes beyond just being a great breakfast, this can change peoples lives!  SO here are the ingredients for you, and all of their benefits.

A lot of you already have your shakeology and so I'll share a few of my favorite recipes and tips!

Chocolate Cherry:

1 scoop chocolate Shakeology

These are just a few of my faves, I do love chocolate the most, and it totally curbs my sweet tooth!  So now you know why I love my breakfast everyday.  You can go do a little more research on my website, www.myshakeolgy.com/jodesred.  Also feel free to send me any questions.  I want everyone to feel as good as I do!!  Hope you all have a great week.  I would love for anyone to share their favorite recipes in the comments!  Thanks for stopping by!

My favorite online boutique, and a yummy recipe(took 30 minutes total, kid and hubby approved)!!

Hey there!  Hope you all had a great weekend, we had Konners birthday party with some friends from his school.  He had a blast and it was so fun.  Needless to say I indulged on pizza and ice cream cake...ugh, I feel like I need a major detox!!  I will be drinking some detox water tomorrow(water, mint leaves, lemon, and cucumber...so refreshing) and getting back to my normal clean eating!!  We also start week 4 of our insanity max 30 tomorrow, I am ready to roll!!  My push-ups are so much better than when we started, so that's really exciting to see progress!!  I plan on doing 2 weeks of the 21 day fix extreme after we are done with this program...we go to Cancun April 15th, so I want to be in my best shape for my man:)

Speaking of Cancun, I have been eyeing some beachy clothes from my favorite little online boutique. Riffraff.  Check out their website, they offer new stuff every day, and they also have a great basic collection with piko tops and dresses that I love.  www.shopriffraff.com :)  Here are some items that I want for our vacay:

This would be a really cute cover up or just a casual dress.

This can be a day look with flats, or a night look with some wedges, love it...ok I bought this one:)

Great cover up, with a maxi dress or shorts, and a sexy night shirt with a skirt or tight black pants!

This is so cute with jeans, or shorts, or a maxi...perfect for a chilly night on the beach.

They have so many cute things, and the price range is great I think.  I have several pieces from them and its great quality.  I love riffraff, you can follow them on instagram...they post all of their new arrivals everyday....which can be dangerous, if you love something you can be sure it will be sold out that day...so buy it if you love it!!

Ok for a few recipes:)  Last Thursday night I had no clue what to cook for dinner, I have been in a slump...my go to is always healthy tacos:)  My family is kind of over tacos....so I had some browned meat and couldn't make my latest obsession....so I chopped some peppers, and broccoli...I sautéed them with garlic.  I then added a few jars of organic spaghetti sauce....added some spices...and served over whole wheat pasta for the kids and over steamed broccoli for me:)  It was so good, and I got in some great veggies for my family:)

Like I said I have been in a meal planning slump....so I posted on FB and asked for help:)  My friend April posted this recipe:  http://damndelicious.net/2014/07/07/quinoa-enchilada-casserole/

I got a roasted chicken and chopped that up and added to the recipe...this was so delicious!  Everyone loved it!  It was so fast too, and is super healthy!  Hope you enjoy!!

I'll post later this week our meal plan for the week....all recipes from my friend Amy's awesome blog:
www.denimanddots.com .....she does super cute posts on fashion, and her recipes are so awesome!!  All paleo menu!!  Thanks for stopping by!!  Have a great week, If you have a goal, a Monday is a great day to start!!

My fitness journey with beachbody....and those healthy tacos!!

Hello everyone!  Hope you all are having a great week.  I wanted to tell you today about my fitness journey, so here we go!

I was always in sports and active in school.  I never knew anything about the nutrition side of things and ate whatever I wanted.  Before I had our first son Kobe, I definitely had the college weight.....oh wait I wasn't in college....so it was more of....I drank, and ate a lot weight:)  Needless to say I was not in the best shape.  So along came Kobe...best thing to ever happen to me!  Straightened my butt right up, and I needed it!  I gained 40 pounds with him!  I was shocked I could gain that much.  Jake and I got engaged when Kobe was about 5 months old, we planned a wedding, and I had 6 months to get wedding ready!  This is where I wish Beachbody would have come into my life....but I did workout...never had the nutrition side...never shakeology(which is my superfood, healthiest meal of the day, I love it and believe in it.  You can go to www.myshakeology.com/jodesred and check it out ),  and never had my accountability groups!  So while I was in decent shape for my wedding, it wasn't where I wanted to be, and I truly didn't feel comfortable in my own skin, my stomach always hurt because I ate like crap.  Fast forward to Konner(my little cutie boy)...I only gained 30 pounds(but I had never lost that last 10), when he was about a year old and I felt like I could put him in the daycare at the gym, I joined, and I got a trainer....he was the best!  I started working out with my husband, and then my girlfriends joined me...I got in really great shape and started to research paleo.  I started cooking that way, and I loved the way that I felt.  When I got pregnant with Kollin(why did I do their names so alike agh!!:)), I had to stop working out at about 12 weeks for medical reasons...that was really hard, I gained 60 pounds and honestly it was a miserable pregnancy...I was so big and so uncomfortable.  I remember when I went in to have him, the nurse read my weight...197....I then told her if she told my husband I would kill her!  The anesthesiologist came in and then announced to the room my weight...the nurse whispered her apologies.....I was so embarrassed!  I felt so much better when that sweet little man was out, and I knew when I was able to get back in shape, I was going full force.  We have our last baby and now its time to get as fit as possible, this was my mission!

I started a 10 day challenge when Kollin was about 8 weeks old.  I drank this crazy drink called shakeology, followed a meal plan, and did at home workouts.  I worked on drinking more water, sleeping(as much as I could with a newborn), and just slowly started back.  I lost 8 pounds in 10 days, but more importantly, I felt so so good, and I knew that I wanted to be a coach.  I wanted to have that constant accountability in my life forever, and I loved the products and wanted a discount, and I wanted to share what was working for me with all the other moms that I knew were struggling to lose the baby weight.  I signed up with T-25...We had a group for 10 weeks, I also began training with my beautiful friend Tierney Jeffers and I lost all of my baby weight. I loved having that time for me.  It made me a better wife and mom, was a great stress reliever, and I had so much energy to play with my babies:)

I ordered the 21 day fix next...I loved it!  Its the first program that I followed it to a t, I didn't miss a day.  Nutrition wise I did about 90%....I didn't drop any weight, but tons of inches.
This is after T-25, and one round of 21 day fix!

This is after following the plan to a t!

I recently talked my husband into doing Insanity Max 30 with me, he prefers the gym usually.  He agreed and so we got a really great group of other couples to commit to it with us.  This group is honestly one of the most dedicated I have ever been in.  They are doing so awesome.  I can already tell a huge difference in my strength and muscle tone.  By far the hardest workout I have done to date!

My next challenge to myself is to do the 21 day fix extreme.  The trainer, Autumn Calabrese, uses her bikini competition meal plan and the workouts are much more intense.  I think I will be ready.  At this point its all about challenging myself with fitness.  I love the feeling of doing something I never thought I could or would do.  I cant wait to show you my Max 30 results, I will be posting about our progress!!  Please let me know if you want to be apart of one of my challenge groups.  We can talk about your goals and connect you with the best program for you, and the secret sauce....challenge groups!  Accountability is key!!!  You can always message me with any questions, jodesred@gmail.com

March Promotion:

I decided today that I would offer a little incentive to those that get a friend or friends to join our March 21 day fix challenge group.  For each friend that you get to join us, you will get a discount, if you get 4 friends your program will be paid for.  I wanted to think of a way to reach more women, and help as many ladies as we can, especially moms.  Plus if you surround yourself with others doing this with you success will happen!!  This honestly has changed my life, and so many of my friends lives...I would love to share that with you!  This is not a Beachbody promotion, this is just an offer that I am doing until Monday February 23rd.

Ok, ok...if you are just here for the tacos, here they are lol:)

-Chicken Tacos/Pulled Pork Tacos(Jodi Redfearn’s recipe)

Put 4-6 B/S Chicken Breasts in the crockpot/or a pork tenderloin, Spread some minced garlic on top of meat, Cut some red and green bell peppers and onions if you like and put on top, pour a jar of Salsa Verde, or your favorite Salsa over the chicken or Pork.  Cook on low for 4 hours or on high for 6-8 hours.  Shred the chicken/Pork and add back to the pot for 30 minutes on low.  Make tacos with corn tortillas, or lettuce cups.  Top with toppings that you like, avocado, guacamole, cheese, salsa, greek yogurt (subs as sc), onion, or anything that you want!  Enjoy!
